Jerry Barker - remembered.

went
on
to
glory
Easter Monday |
Cathleen & Bob Morris:
Jerry was a tall tree ~ always one of the great
oaks of righteousness who stood quietly as a servant in our
lives. He will be greatly missed among us, for his kindness and
compassion, his great sense of fairness and honor. He now
celebrates among the saints in glory, having gone ahead to
prepare a place for all of us to join the great feast.
How appropriate for Jerry to have died and gone to glory on
Easter Monday. He would not have considered it right to go on
Easter, but rather, waited and followed humbly behind Jesus, his
Lord, the friend and Master whom he loved and served so
faithfully for all the years of his life. How typical of Jerry ~
well done, good and faithful servant! We send love to all your
family and thanks for your life.
Alison Barker:
Thank you so much, Cathleen and Bob. We used to walk along the
River Thames in Wargrave, in our early days, along a tree lined
drive which we called our Covenant Drive. Love, Alison

George Mims
(after the funeral): We remember Jerry Barker, friend and
companion on this journey as his earthly remains are laid to
rest and his soul and spirit rejoices in the nearer presence of
our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Lord, bless his family with
inner peace and strength in the days ahead. Amen.
Jodi
Page-Clark:
Have lost some very lovely family and friends this week and am
trying to process it. Jerry Barker died on Easter Monday and his
passing is mourned by many. He lived with Howard and me in
Scotland just after we were married and was a great support to
our household ministry of providing a place to live for kids
coming to learn how to hold down a job.
Myrnette Dickinson
(re the obituary):
Beautifully written and so very true. I have not
read one so beautifully written. It says so much that we all
know of Jerry. May we follow his example.
Diane Nagy:
The epitome of service to
God.

No turning back, no turning back! I have

The road behind me, the cross before me ...

Cherie Binns:
We all hold the entire family in our thoughts and prayers as
services are arranged, friends and family fly in, and this week
goes by in an exhausting blur. Please remember Alison in the
weeks and months to come and contact her periodically to let her
know she is still being held.
Keever
Wallace:
Happy from now on are those who die in the Lord!
So it is, says the Spirit, for they rest from their labors.

Debbie Farra Milner:
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you
this day our brother Jerry. We thank you for giving him to us,
his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on
our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us
who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal
life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on
earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have
gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Alison Barker:
(Easter Sunday morning)
"Happy Easter! The Lord is risen indeed . Jerry
slept peacefully last night and is breathing deeply this a.m.
The nurse says it's not a medication induced peace but his own
inner peace. God promised a peaceful end. The family are all
here and within 30 minutes drive away. We'll keep vigil and
gathering today. Our love to you all. Alison and the rest of the
family."
Janice Manley:
(Easter Sunday)
Separation from loved ones is always hard; but I
think it would be wonderful for Jerry to start his new life on
Easter. We are praying for all of you.
Kathleen Barker:
(Easter Saturday)
The nurse says Jerry doesn't feel much pain anymore. He can
still hear what's going on around him. We're listening to
Fisherfolk tapes. What beautiful music!!!
Owen, Martha, and I are on the shift until
midnight to be with Jerry. Sherrell and Conway take over after
that. The nurse said Jerry is in a comatose state now.
Donna Hollis:
May
the Lord bless you and your family with Peace. You are in my
heart and prayers. Easter is a great season for such a beautiful
send off!
Freda Kimmey:
thank you for letting us know - Rest eternal grant to Jerry, O
Lord: and let light perpetual shine upon him. |
